Amidst the worldwide wave of reports, rumours and fears surrounding the H1N1 Virus outbreak in Thailand, The Champions Club promoter Bernard Caplin pulls the plug on the the TCC Thailand show scheduled for 22nd of August in Pattaya.

"As unfortunate and exasperating as this is for all concerned, the current situation in Thailand is such that moving ahead with final plans for our scheduled TCC Thailand show in the Fairtex Stadium in Pattaya in August is close to impossible.

The H1N1 pandemic or "Swine Flu" outbreak in Thailand has not only led to a massive drop in foreign visitors to Thailand but also to a big decrease in the number of Thais frequenting public places. Of course this affects major tourist areas such as Pattaya drastically. As such, all our marketing efforts planned for the month leading up to the event are now on ice.

Sponsors are also concerned with the negative international publicity Thailand has recieved over the past few weeks but personally I am mostly concerned that our scheduled show will run into unforseen problems short term, even possibly a very short term forced cancellation issue, for whatever reason. To avoid this it is imperative, especially for all the fighters concerned, that everybodys long and hard preperation is not cut off just days or even hours before the first bell. Official current information here in Thailand is unfortunately very confusing, nobody can really predict for certain, how things will develop in the next few weeks.

This is all the more unfortunate for all as we have been working on this show for many months and were preparing to release a spectacular international fightcard this Wednesday, the 22nd of July.

Worldclass international fighters like Thai superstar, Kings Cup 2008 and WMC World Champion Kem Sitsongpeenong, (formerly known as Kem Fairtex) South African K-1 Max fighter Vusile "The Cheetah" Colossa, French Champion Antuan Siangboxing and Vlado Konsky, Slovakian Kings Cup SemiFinalist were all in final negotiation for the international 1-King tournament at -70kg, also three top German fighters, Sabine Kern, Denis Oliwka and "The Bulldog" David Goldberg, who are all currently training in Thailand, were on our list to fight top international opposition in Pattaya.

An intercontinental "Muaythai against Drugs" Title fight with two young and upcoming fighters was finalised with the WMC at -57kg, a couple of surprises from the top gyms around Pattaya were planned, the Fairtex Stadium was booked, Fairtex Pattaya Resort signed as "Official TCC Thailand Gym" and the show pretty much ready to go. Then along comes a little Virus named H1N1! But what can you do?

I just sincerely hope things just calm down here fast and "Amazing Thailand" gets back to normal as quickly as possible."

The Champions Club is now working hard with all concerned to find a suitable new date for this international event in Pattaya in early January 2010.
