In just 6 weeks (on September 20th, 2008), Canada's top eight most talented Muay Thai athletes arrive in Calgary to participate in The Contender - Asia Season 2 / Canadian Qualifier. All are hoping to win the event and represent Canada in the Shining Light of Muay Thai - - The Contender - Asia Season 2 reality television show. Tickets are selling briskly as the promoters start to prepare for a media blitz. This event will be sold out well in advance of the date it takes place! The Contender - Asia is produced by 'Imagine OmniMedia in partnership with Mark Burnett (Survivor, The Contender, etc.) and DreamWorks SKG'. The best Muay Thai athletes in the world will be on Season 2 of the series and Canada will be sending this countries best (the winner of the qualifier) to the event. Sanctioned by the World Muaythai Council, The Contender - Asia was the number 1 show in all of Asia for during the airing of the first season. Now the series is being broadcast to the rest of the world and the reviews have been raving hot! Season 2 promises to be a scorcher. The greatest talent from the top Muay Thai countries around the world will be featured in the television series. Fans are rabid for the final line up but all will have to wait until all the qualifiers for the event from around the world are completed. The Canadian Qualifier features eight of Canada's Best Muay Thai Athletes. In the opening round, four of Western Canada's best battle against four of Eastern Canada's best. Feedback from the television production team for the Canadian event has been extremely positive proving the Canadian show is one not to miss. The event features several Superfights which include Trevor 'T.N.T.' Smandych, Scott 'The Pitbull' Clark and Jessica Gladstone. CANADIAN 8 MAN QUALIFIER Representing Eastern Canada... A man with years of international Muay Thai fighting experience from living in Thailand, Alex Ricci has been acknowledged as having possibly the purest Muay Thai style of all the competitors in the Canadian Qualifier tournament. After successfully fighting and winning in Thailand, he is now back living and fighting in Canada. Ricci feels he is hungrier than ever to prove he is the best Muay Thai athlete in Canada. Having knocked out American Muay Thai star Chris Romulo in the fourth round, Ricci predicts he will be doing the same against the other athletes he faces in the event. ALEX RICCI
