 Sunday, September 7th 2008 Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre - UK





Lee Smith from Newton Aycliffe, in County Durham was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident on 3rd June 2007 and we are hosting this event in his honour in recognition to his contribution to this sport. Lee had been involved in Thai boxing, training under Master Sean Dooney of Kings Cobra in Newton Aycliffe since the age of 16 and during his Thai boxing career he achieved the following titles:

2 British Light Middleweight Titles Muay Thai boxing
1 British Middleweight Title Muay Thai boxing
World Championship ranked 4th, Thai boxing
European Championship - ranked 2nd, Thai boxing

This is to be an large event, which will hopefully attract up to 800 people to this event and will consist of 10-14 fights during the event. The event will take place at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre on Sunday 7th September 2008.

Proceeds from this show will go to the Lee Smith Trust which aims to support and promote Thai boxing in the North East of England, which includes the counties of Durham, Darlington, Tyne & Wear, Teesside and Northumberland. The Lee Smith Trust will further the education and training of Thai boxing students by the provision of grants and donations to individuals and clubs/associations And To make donations to charitable organisations as the committee from time to time think fit.
